Caboose, circa 1881
Denver and Rio Grande four-wheel caboose was one
of sixty-eight 36" narrow gauge cabooses built beginning
in 1871 by Jackson and Sharpe (and later by the
D&RG shops) for the for use in the Rocky Mountains
of Colorado, USA. They were used, in updated form,
well into the 1930's, and several highly modified
examples are in museums, or in use on tourist railroads.
